GAME CHANGER Team Spends Weekend Smokin’ Ribs and Helpin’ Kids

A team of our own GAME CHANGER chefs traveled down to New Orleans to participate on the “Born to Grill” team in the Hogs for the Cause competition on March 29th.  Nearly 90 teams joined the competition to raise money for families and children suffering from pediatric brain cancer.  These teams went head to head in many competitions throughout the two-day event - including Best Ribs, Best Sauce, Best Pork Butt, and many more.

The Hogs for the Cause organization in New Orleans recently opened the Hogs House, which provides on-campus housing for families of these children battling cancer.  This complex allows them to be outside of hospital walls but close enough to receive the care their children need.  Our team was honored to be a part of such an impactful and important cause.

The “Hogs for the Cause” event invites teams to feature their best chefs and equipment for a variety of competitions.  This event was open to the public and food was available for purchase from the teams to raise money for the cause.  The crowd and chefs alike enjoyed two days of eating, drinking, dancing, and supporting families in need.

The “Born to Grill” team featured a crew of all military veteran chefs who worked together alongside the GAME CHANGER ® Smoker to create one of the crowd favorite meals of the weekend.  People stood in line to purchase an order of pork nachos - made with smoked cracklins and topped with pulled pork and melted cheese.

Our team finished the weekend with several top 10 finishes, including placing 4th in the “Whole Hog Roast” and 7th in “Overall Setup.”  However, more important than these placings, we were happy contribute to the “Born to Grill” team and the mission of Hogs for the Cause.
